The Front Bottoms - Swimming Pool (Live from Asbury Lanes, NJ 4/27/12)

Hey gang! As you may or may not know, I’m good pals with The Front Bottoms. I’ve known Brian and Matt for about 5 years now and Drew for about 2. I went on tour with them in September and I’ve watched them grow and gain popularity from when they came up to Rutgers to play my Dorm Hall for exactly me, my roommate Mike Edley, and one or two other kids.

An old party shot at Matt and his brother’s old house. Apparently Old Navy recycles their shirt patterns into boxers.
The Front Bottoms are the nicest kids. This past year has been absolutely huge for them, they got a record deal with Bar/None Records and they’ve been touring non-stop with the likes of Emperor X, Kevin Devine, Say Anything, and this summer they’ll be touring with Motion City Soundtrack. Right now they’re across the pond playing for those limey Brits. They’re blowing up and I couldn’t be happier for them. So when I saw that they’d be playing Asbury Lanes, you know I was coming through to chat with ‘em, drink a couple beers, and watch them play.
So did a million other kids. A million enthusiastic-as-hell kids. I had seen them play Asbury Lanes a little over a year before this as well, and it was a great show but nothing near this many kids, and this kind of energy.

This is a shot from that show a year ago, there were people there, a decent amount too, I swear.
Anyway, enjoy the video, watch it for the crowd who drowns out Sella’s voice at times and sings the opening lines entirely by themselves. Shout out to that mean bouncer that manhandles that girl haha.
If you listen close, at the end you can hear my friend and old roommate Mike Edley say, “I’m like… in disbelief. Like, I don’t know what’s going on.” Same.
Keep bombin’
Joe
